Boss phases

A desert canyon at scorching Noon with Heatwave (cosmetic arrow flicker), switching to Sandstorm (wind) in phase 2 and Embers in phase 3. The colossus leaves huge footprints that briefly slow units (−30%).

  1. "Full Steam Ahead" (100–60%). It walks forward. Cannon Arm: telegraph the arm glows red, a steam whistle blows three short toots, and a crosshair appears on the wall (2 s). Effect: a 40-damage cannonball. Hatch Drop: every 12 s its belly hatch opens and drops 2 Powder Keg Goblin goblins. Weak points: 3 steam valves (shoulder, elbow, knee) glow yellow. Hits on a valve do ×3 and ignore armor, and a valve that's hit enough (150 dmg) bursts and is gone for good. Bursting all 3 skips straight to phase 2.
  2. "Overheating" (60–25%). The sandstorm rolls in and its chest plate pops open to show the boiler, which loses Armored and takes ×2 from frost. Flame Jets: telegraph the nozzles on its feet glow (1 s), then a 300 px ground flame zone in front of it (units retreat automatically, no damage, "hot-foot" dance). The cannon keeps firing every 7 s.
  3. "Last Stand" (under 25%). Its legs lock up and it becomes a stationary turret (x = 1100). It fires a mortar barrage of 5 shells with shadow circles (1.2 s telegraph, 10 damage each) every 8 s. Ember rain falls and the goblin pilots panic-pedal in the cockpit.

How to beat The Brass Colossus

Catapult (blunt vs armored), Crossbow Tower, Cryomancer (the phase 2 boiler), Stormcaller (metal, proposed ×1.25), Balcony Archers (the valves, a skill-shot weak point), and Pikeman against the giant. Footman and Knight do poorly.

Best counters: Crossbow Tower, Keep Catapult, Cryomancer and Stormcaller.

Also works: Pikeman.

Not great against it: Footman and Knight.

  • It is a boss with three phases. Watch for the big warning signs before each attack.
  • Giants are too big to knock back.
  • Armor halves arrow and bolt damage, and blunt hits like catapult boulders do 50% more.
  • Siege foes move slowly but hit the wall very hard. Stop them before they arrive.

The Brass Colossus in the campaign

On Normal you'll face one The Brass Colossus over 1 day, spread across 1 wave. Harder difficulty levels send more of them, with more health; Easy sends fewer.

What it looks like

A huge rounded brass-and-copper robot-golem with a riveted barrel chest, pipes, gauges, a smokestack hat, and a cannon for one arm. A glass dome cockpit head holds Chief Tinker Gizzlecog (proposed, from the story page), who yells "BEHOLD!" through a funnel megaphone, and portholes on its belly show twelve goblin crew pedalling bicycles and pushing buttons. The palette is warm brass, verdigris green patches, and rust. Gag: when hit hard, one gauge's needle spins wildly and a pilot bonks the glass to fix it.

The elite version

"Reinforced", meaning the valves need 250 damage and the hatch drops 3 kegs.
