What it does

It tunnels underground, untargetable, leaving a visible dirt/snow mound trail as a tell. It surfaces 140 px from the wall, or before the moat if a moat is built (then it has to swim across at 0.5× speed, fully targetable). It digs at the foundation.8 s pop-up telegraph: the mound shakes) → dig_wall`.

How to beat Mole Sapper

Oil cauldron (it surfaces right under the oil), Footman on Hold stance (guards the wall), the Moat upgrade, and Keep Catapult/Pyromancer splash on the surfacing point.

Best counters: Boiling Oil and Footman.

Also works: Keep Catapult, Pyromancer, Cryomancer and Stormcaller.

  • It digs underground where nothing can hit it, then pops up near the wall. Be ready at the wall.

Mole Sapper in the campaign

On Normal you'll face about 11 Mole Sappers over 5 days, spread across 7 waves. The biggest crowd comes on Day 16, with 5 of them. Harder difficulty levels send more of them, with more health; Easy sends fewer.

What it looks like

A chubby brown mole with a pink star-nose, a miner's hard hat with a candle, round goggles, huge digging claws, and a pickaxe on its back. Gag: it pops up facing the wrong way first, then turns around.

The elite version

Its tunnel stays open, and 1 grunt follows through it, surfacing at the same spot.
