What it does

A haunted suit of armor. Non-magic damage is at −75%, blunt gets armored +50% on top of that (a net −62%), and holy is +50%. Phase Shift: every 6 s, for 1.5 s, it becomes intangible and immune to non-magic as it walks through marching units. Telegraph: the armor turns see-through from the feet up (0.5 s).

How to beat Shadow Knight

Cleric and Paladin (holy), and the three mages. Physical defenders do poorly. This is the "you need magic now" exam.

Best counters: Sunbell Cleric and Paladin.

Also works: Pyromancer, Cryomancer and Stormcaller.

Not great against it: Balcony Archers, Crossbow Tower, Keep Catapult, Boiling Oil, Footman, Pikeman, Knight and Ranger.

  • Armor halves arrow and bolt damage, and blunt hits like catapult boulders do 50% more.
  • Ethereal foes take 75% less damage from normal weapons and 50% more from holy light.

Shadow Knight in the campaign

On Normal you'll face about 17 Shadow Knights over 4 days, spread across 10 waves. The biggest crowd comes on Day 29, with 7 of them. Harder difficulty levels send more of them, with more health; Easy sends fewer.

What it looks like

The Hob Knight's silhouette (on purpose) but empty, with dark violet plate armor, glowing mint-green eyes in the visor, wisps of ghost smoke leaking at the joints, and a tattered cloak. Gag: a wisp lives inside the helmet and sometimes peeks out of the visor.

The elite version

A shield that blocks holy damage from the front for its first 3 s on-screen.
